It is with great pleasure that Nicholson Sheffield Architects Inc. announces the election of Principal, Jim Sheffield, to Fellowship in the College of Fellows of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (FRAIC). In recognition of Jim’s outstanding career, he is among 38 Canadian Architects to be elected for a 2018 Fellowship. A FRAIC nomination is the highest recognition a Canadian Architect can be awarded by their peers, bestowed to individuals who exemplify design excellence, outstanding scholarly contribution, and distinguished service to the profession and/or community. Jim will be one of five London area architects to receive this recognition since its inception in 1941.

Having worked in the architectural sector since 1991, Jim Sheffield has established himself as one of the most accomplished Architects in Canada. Leading the Partnership, Jim has demonstrated his keen leadership ability and design excellence, working on numerous high-profile award-winning projects at Western University, Thames Valley District School Board, the London District Catholic School Board, and many others. He and his projects have been the recipients of various local and national awards, including the Don Smith Commercial Building Award for Excellence, the provincial Ontario Masonry Design Award for Architectural Design, the Design Exchange Bronze Award, Paul Oberman Award for Adaptive Re-Use, and a national Ecclesiastical Insurance Cornerstone Award for Building Heritage, to name a few.

In addition to his professional experience, Jim takes an active role in the local community, committing time to a variety of not-for-profit organizations and committees. He is a past member of the City of London Urban Design Peer Review Panel and sat on the Board of Directors for the London District Construction Association as past President.

Jim will be inducted to the College of Fellows and join the list of Canada’s most esteemed and distinguished architects on May 31, 2018, in St. John, New Brunswick. The Nicholson Sheffield partnership will be attending the Convocation and Investiture of Fellows to witness and celebrate this special occasion.
