770 Whetter Avenue

Whetter Ave was a project that Nicholson Sheffield was hired to plan and create as an affordable housing initiative in partnership with the city of London. These projects are always special to our firm and we were thrilled to be granted the contract to create another new set of homes. The building occupies a formerly undeveloped site on Whetter Ave. The neighbourhood is mature and the building is surrounded by a single family residential neighbourhood on two sides and a multi-family developments to the South. The final side faces into an unoccupied site. The site is located between Fairview Ave and Thompson St/Westminster Ave. The building is a compilation of 54 one-bedroom apartments, laundry space, common room, bicycle storage, administrative offices, and 68 parking stalls. Community areas are designed to be fully accessible for all occupants and visitors to the building. The common room is comfortable. Filled with natural light and a space with a fireplace so socialization can be done in a calm and cozy setting. The space has multi-use functionality and can provide a setting for social and educational programmes for new Canadians. The target market for these apartments are singles, couples, seniors and special needs populations. The building is designed to be close to many different public and private services and close to LTC stops.
