Developed with the London Cross-Cultural Learners Centre, Doorways to Dreams is a mixed-income residential development in London’s historic Old East Village, bringing 247 residential units to Dundas Street. The project includes a six-storey mixed-use building facing the street, with commercial space at grade, and a 24-storey residential tower at the rear of the site. A mix of market-rate and affordable housing, over 20% fully barrier-free units, accommodates a diverse range of residents, including newcomers to Canada.
The design responds to the historic streetscape through masonry cladding and a street-oriented building form, while accommodating greater density within the site. In addition to providing much-needed housing, the project incorporates resident support services and community programming, including resources for newcomers, to foster connection and support an inclusive residential environment. As part of the ongoing transformation of Old East Village, Doorways to Dreams contributes to the revitalization of Dundas Street through new housing, an active street frontage, and shared spaces that bring the community together.
